From Trauma to Resilience: Special Screening of Alex’s Group & Conversation with Filmmaker Yonatan Nir 

Join us for a special screening of Alex’s Group, followed by a live conversation with multi-award-winning Israeli filmmaker Yonatan Nir.

Alex’s Group follows four women and four men from different parts of Israeli society who take part in a therapeutic photography group led by Israel Prize-winning photographer Alex Levac at Lev Hasharon Psychiatric Hospital. Each participant is connected to post-trauma differently. Through Levac’s iconic photographs and images brought by the participants themselves, the group opens an honest conversation about post-trauma as a collective social phenomenon, its impact across generations, and the possibility of growth through sharing, recognition, creativity, compassion, and humanity.

In the wake of the October 7 tragedy and its profound impact on Israeli society and Jewish communities worldwide, this film offers a deeply relevant lens into collective pain, resilience, and healing. Following the screening, director Yonatan Nir expands the conversation to post-traumatic growth, exploring how storytelling, art, and the way we process our experiences can guide us toward hope, rebuilding, and personal and communal resilience after unimaginable events.
